Waterview Luncheonette Serves Dinners for Charity
The Waterview Luncheonette of Milford served up dinners on three different nights in December and January to benefit the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation. Andy Moisiades and Harry Efstathiades, co-owners of Waterview Luncheonette located at 487 Post Rd, offered a special fixed-menu for diners with the entire cost of the meal going to the Foundation on January 13 th and December 10 th and 11th. The dinners raised a total of $1,900 for the Foundation.
The last benefit evening proved to be the most successful, raising more than $700. Diners enjoyed a complete dinner from soup to desert, choosing from seven different entrees, such as chicken parmigana, beef stew, and spaghetti and meatballs.
The co-owners took over Waterview Luncheonette about three months ago, serving only breakfast and lunch until now. To test the market and see if people would come to the Waterview Luncheonette for dinners, they offered dinner on a trial basis on those three dates. The test run was a great success; Waterview is now permanently open for dinners as well as breakfast and lunch.
"We wanted to experiment with serving dinners, and at the same time we were able to help a great charity," Efstathiades said. "We're pretty to new to the community and this was a great way for people to get to know more about us. We're happy to be help out a charity that benefits so many kids."
The Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, based at 601 Boston Post Rd., will celebrate its 30 th anniversary in 2008. It operates the Arthur C. Luf Children's Burn Camp that runs every July for children with severe burn injuries from 8-18 years old.
